What You Will Learn

From violent beatings to Columbine-type shootings to devastating suicides, the potential horrific impact of bullying raises questions about how far educators and schools can and should go to address the problem.

This 90-minute webinar will examine legal issues that all school teachers, counselors and administrators should know with regard to student bullying. When alleged bullies were recently charged in the Phoebe Prince "bullycide" case in South Hadley, Massachusetts, numerous troubling questions were raised about the potential liability of educators who seemingly were aware of the ongoing harassment.

M. Jane Turner, an attorney who specializes in school law, will outline the authority and legal responsibility of school officials with regard to bullying, and will review the practical aspects of how to create policies and procedures which protect students, schools and educators.
