What to Do When Peer Harassment Becomes Particularly Vicious and Persistent
Extreme bullying can occur in any school regardless if it is rural or urban, single-gender or dual-gender, low or high academically, low or high socioeconomically, public or private. And unfortunately, extreme bullying can proceed ruthlessly and relentlessly among students for far too long a time before school personnel or parents become sufficiently aware of its extent.
When bullying becomes extremely intense, persistent, and/or wide-spread, the results can be devastating to those involved. Bullying has been shown to be a primary casual factor leading to lower academic grades, truancy, school violence and threats, life-long emotional scarring, mental-health disorders, and suicide (now recognized by the term “bullycide”).
In recent years, a fresh surge of interest has emerged on topics related to bullying. New model programs have been established, best practices have been identified, and trainings have been offered. This seminar is unique in that it will help you gain practical insights, approaches and strategies related to real cases of more extreme/persistent types of bullying.
